Of course you think of food right away, yet the undigested I’m talking about, are the events that we have yet to digest fully as appreciation.
At the risk of sounding condescending, the undigested material, the circumstances that have not been thought through in wholeness, still weight on your bodymind.
This undigested material, like a shitty mother, bully, an old fight, rude teacher, whatever it is, anchors itself emotionally in the recesses of the spine and mind. It takes up energy, depletes your resilience and recovery time, changes brain and heart function, ‘upsets digestion’…literally and figuratively.
The yoga saying, ‘your issues are in your tissues’, has aged well.
So what do we do about this UNDIGESTED LIFE stuff?
3 STEPS
- Identify the undigested material. “What has made me stuck, mad, irritated, suffering?”
- What is my REAL concern about ‘said undigested material’?
- Why is it important to me right now, that I am experiencing this concern/circumstance
As Victor Frankl speaks about, MEANING is the highest human order we can give something, and it can be our demise to the DEATH or our opportunity to TRIUMPH.
The 3 Steps invites us to look at what is going on, and place our minds and hearts on a path of greater order, acceptance and meaning.
You think elite athletes would endure the pain of training without a higher vision, calling or meaning they are giving to the pain?
Until you can call it out, connect with the emotion of it, and give a greater meaning, the chances of you keeping it UNDIGESTED MATERIAL, is highly likely.
Let the circumstance absorb into you, and release, with the 3 STEPS
Keep on, keeping on!
