First pitfall of self-mastery. Think/talk/think syndrome.
This happens when you want to make a change, you start reading books, you start talking about it.
Then, you don’t take action.
You keep reading, you keep talking, and maybe, even read some more.
This ‘think/talk/think’ syndrome is by far one of the most influential pieces that DOES NOT ALLOW you to make genuine progress.
This is also why, at certain points in the healing process, talk therapy no longer works.
Sure at the beginning it’s nice to have someone to hear you out, listen to you and give you their perspective.
But if you are looking to break through a problem or barrier, ONLY YOU can do the work.
Any athlete knows this.
You can watch as much ‘game film’ as you want, you can strategize on what you are ‘going to do’, but where the rubber meets the road is when you take the field and do the work.
So be aware, very aware, of think/talk/think syndrome.
That type of behaviour will keep you stuck.
All the best,
Dr. Steve
